How Big of a Refrigerator Do I Need?

Choosing the right size fridge is easy as long as you supervene some uncomplicated and beneficial guidelines. I would also like to note that choosing the correct size as far as space is very important, but also choosing the right size fridge as far as cubic feet goes is just as important. If you buy a fridge that does not hold at least a weeks furnish of grocery than you have chosen one that is to small. The normal rule of thumb is 2.5 cubic feet per someone in the house hold. Obviously that will turn with smaller kids and such, but still is a good bench mark when it comes down to thinking about holding power.

Freezer space is all the time a concern too. Be sure to take a good hard look at your meal planning to see how much meat and other foods that may need to be frozen. This will give you a gauge on what you might think you will need space wise.

Measuring the space in which the fridge is going to go is critical. If you don't get the measurements right then be prepared to have some headaches. The measurements you should be checking is the width, height and depth of the intended location. More often than not population forget to quantum the height, but in my case it's vital because of the cabinets that I have overhead.

Now that you have your measurement, be sure to also check any hallways or door entrances that will be utilized when delivering the fridge. Time and time again I have seen population go out and buy a oversize refrigerator that may fit into the kitchen, but they come up short because they did not plan the entrance route and there was some obstacle that delayed the installation.

Lastly, be sure to check the clearance behind the fridge. Refrigerators have cooling fins that will need some breathing room in order to function properly. It's best to give yourself a nice 4 inch gap between the wall and fridge.
